Sonoma celebrates 10 years

Sonoma Baking Company, the most celebrated sourdough bakery business in Sydney, is celebrating 10 years since it delivered its first loaf of sourdough bread in Sydney.

The celebration of a decade of hands-on baking, literally thousands of 3am starts and putting plenty of love into every loaf is being celebrated by Andrew Connole and his team with their most ambitious projects yet – a centralised Sonoma HQ bakery in Alexandria complete with a licensed café, and the opening of a fourth standalone café in Bondi to go alongside Glebe, Paddington and Danks Street, Waterloo.

Sonoma Café Bondi will open in the Beach House complex on Campbell Parade in early May before Sonoma HQ opens its spectacular big baking doors on Birmingham Street, Alexandria later in the month.

The Alexandria headquarters is a true baking mecca – a 2800 square metre facility that will become the heart and soul of Sonoma.

All of Sonoma’s famed sourdough breads will be baked around the clock and the new bakery will also commence baking pastries to be delivered to the Cafés each day.

Sonoma HQ will also include a baking school able to be used by bread devotees, corporates, groups and friends where Andrew Connole and his team will present a true hands-on baking experience followed by dinner or lunch in the Sonoma HQ diner.

The Sonoma HQ café will also be a little different to the other Sonoma Cafés with a liquor license and an expanded menu including pizzas and Sonoma’s signature sandwiches, as well as mueslis, and the complete range of sourdough bread. A chef is currently being recruited to run Sonoma HQ which will also turn into a unique events space at night.
